Ida Obeso-Martinez Council Member
Elected to Imperial City Council in November 2022.
Dr. Ida Obeso-Martinez DNP, FNP-C is a proud resident of the City of Imperial. She grew up and attended local schools and graduated from Imperial High School. She received her Associate’s in Nursing from Imperial Valley College, a Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Arizona.
She is currently employed as a Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner at Imperial Cardiac Center. Before she was a cardiovascular nurse practitioner, she worked as an emergency room and intensive care nurse for over 20 years in both local Imperial Valley hospitals. As a nurse, she had the opportunity to teach at Imperial Valley College and held various positions within the hospital including medical management, and information systems.
Councilmember Obeso-Martinez is board member for ARC of Imperial Valley, and President of MANA de Imperial Valley. Dr. Obeso-Martinez is passionate about working with local legislatures and city municipalities to promote health education in rural underserved communities.
Her current appointments to serve on behalf of the City of Imperial are:
- California League of Cities, Community Service Committee
- City of Imperial Friends of the Parks
- Imperial Valley Chamber of Commerce Committee
- LAFCO Advisory Board Committee
Councilmember Obeso-Martinez is dedicated to improving the way of life of our residents of the City of Imperial. She is committed to safety in our neighborhoods, beautification of our parks, and development of business and commerce to our city.
In addition to her work and education endeavors, Councilmember Obeso-Martinez loves being a wife and mother.
