Katherine "Katie" Burnworth Council Member
Elected to the Imperial City Council in November 2020

Katie Burnworth proudly serves as a Councilmember for the City of Imperial, where she works to strengthen local services, support community growth, and protect the quality of life for Imperial residents. A lifelong member of the community, Katie brings both personal commitment and professional experience to her role on the City Council.

Katie attended local schools and graduated from Imperial High School, where her roots in the community were first established. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University. Professionally, she has spent her career working on environmental and community health initiatives, giving her a strong understanding of the issues that impact Imperial residents.

Before being elected to the City Council in 2020, Katie was appointed to the City of Imperial Planning Commission in 2019, where she served until her election. Her time on the Commission gave her valuable insight into local planning and development processes and helped shape her commitment to balanced, thoughtful growth that meets the community’s needs.

In addition to her work on the City Council, Katie serves as 1st Vice President of the Coalition of Labor, Agriculture & Business (COLAB) and President of Imperial Valley Healthcare District.

Katie lives in Imperial with her two children who keep her busy between sports, school, and 4-H activities. In her spare time, she enjoys off-roading, biking, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

As a Councilmember, Katie has focused on improving infrastructure, modernizing technology within the city, and encouraging responsible growth, while ensuring Imperial maintains its character and strong sense of community.
