Currently employed as administrative professional with a focus in disciplinary policy and report writing within a detention environment. Ruben Rivera has amassed over 20 years of service in both private, public, and civil service (combined) having worked alongside or directly for Special Olympics, Lions International, and the El Centro Youth Football Association (ECYFA). He continues to work towards philanthropy and children through volunteering and donating.

Ruben served in the United States Marine Corps and continued to serve the United States through the Department of Justice as a private sector contractor for both D.H.S (1.C.E) and the United States Marshals Service. Locally he worked as a reporter and photographer for a local news outlet with stories that were feature nationally. Ruben worked on establishing, fostering, and cultivating contacts and bridging volunteerism and service to the community. Recently Ruben was instrumental in reestablishing a governmental facility from "start up" to "full operational" service through understanding policy, drawing schematics, client needs and expectations to further creating policy and procedures for monitoring and disciplinary procedures. Through his education and experience Ruben has shown his ability to understand complex requirements to maintain community character while understanding schematics, maps, zoning regulations, public regulations, oversee compliance and still maintain a cohesive collaboration with various governmental departments in order to meet the communities.

Ruben's passion continues to be working with children's programs as an active docent for school children and public tours at the Imperial Valley Pioneers Museum. An active volunteer for youth sports at El Centro Public Rec, and ECYFA (flag football), and the United States Naval Sea Cadets Corps. He gives classes on report writing, professional development, and host the Imperial Valley Model Railroad Club and maintain forums for United States Marine Aviation Veterans.
