SR-86 Vision Blueprint
The City of Imperial was allocated funds to prepare a Vision Blueprint for SR 86. This project will build on the Downtown Imperial Master Plan and evaluate potential land use and zoning changes that will continue to help Imperial thrive.
What is a Vision Blueprint?
The purpose of the Vision Blueprint is to lay out a roadmap as to how SR 86 will function and what it will look like. It is important that SR 86 become a corridor that is safe for all users (pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and motor vehicle drivers) as well as provide improved connections to key destinations including parks, schools, transit stops and stations, businesses, and neighborhood services. Corridor improvements may include many new features such as: shade elements, attractive landscaping, traffic calming and safety improvements, comfortable bike facilities, enhanced transit stops, and more. Improving access to and from SR 86 will create more vibrant and active neighborhoods and support the local economy.
Project Timeline and Engagement Opportunities
The timeline below provides an overview of the project phases, as well as the planned community engagement activities, which will include a stakeholder working group, pop-up outreach, public workshops, and City Council workshops. Public participation in this project is focused on providing all community members with multiple opportunities to be involved in the corridor redesign.
